Marvel and VeVe partnered to create Spider-Man NFTs.
This weekend, VeVe, a blockchain-based digital collectibles marketplace, will begin selling non-fungible Spider-Man tokens. The first series of NFTs will include five variants of the Marvel superhero, with prices ranging from $40 to $400.
Marvel Entertainment, the world’s largest publisher of comic books, partnered with the VeVe marketplace to launch the first official Spider-Man NFTs. From Saturday, August 7th, fans of the superhero will be able to purchase the collectibles. 32,000 people will have the opportunity to purchase the entry-level NFT for $40, while 1,000 of the most expensive NFTs will cost $400 each.
Marvel Entertainment President Dan Buckley stated that releasing non-fungible Spider-Man tokens is just the beginning, as the company plans to launch additional digital collectibles of superheroes later this month: “Spider-Man is one of the most illustrious Super Heroes in the Marvel Universe, and there was no better way to kick off our global digital collectibles experience with VeVe than with this iconic character. We can’t wait to deliver even more exciting drops to Marvel fans and collectors throughout August and beyond.
David Yu, VeVe’s co-founder, and CEO praised the partnership with the entertainment company and revealed that they have been working on it for some time:
“It is very exciting to see our collaboration with Marvel finally come to fruition. We cannot wait to offer fans unique ways to collect their favorite Marvel Super Heroes and memorabilia in digital form. Marvel has been a great partner and we look forward to celebrating the ‘Marvel Month’ with fans around the world on the VeVe app.”
Additionally, Fox Entertainment Has Joined The NFT Trend.
In recent months, non-fungible tokens have become a hot topic, with numerous companies, actors, singers, and athletes joining the craze. As CryptoPotato previously reported in May, Fox Broadcasting Company has teamed up with Dan Harmon – co-creator of Rick and Morty – to develop an animated series based on blockchain technology.
The popular comedy show ‘Krapopolis’ will debut NFTs featuring Rick, Morty, and the show’s other main characters. Additionally, the series intends to reward its most ardent fans with tokens that grant access to “exclusive social experiences.”
In March, Marvel’s chief rival DC Comics entered the NFT market for one of its most iconic superheroes. Additionally, the company partnered with VeVe to launch a digital collection dedicated to Batman.
