Bored Apes’ creator trolls Discord after another hack steals 200 ETH worth of NFTs
The Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Discord server was one of many recently infected. NFTs worth roughly 200 Ethereum seem to have been stolen by scammers, and the author of the famous BAYC collection isn’t pleased.
Phishing hackers continue to defraud NFT collectors, and it seems that members of the Bored Ape Yacht Club are among their main targets.
The Yuga Labs community manager Boris Vagner’s Discord account was initially hacked, according to on-chain expert OKHotshot. Hackers were able to utilise this unrestricted access to post phishing URLs on channels such as BAYC, Otherside, and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC). At the time of this writing, 200 ETH (equal to $363,000) has been taken.
Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) creator Yuga Labs said that the business was looking into the assault. Discord’s security has been challenged by a BAYC developer, Gordon Goner. For web3 communities, Discord isn’t functioning. It’s time for a more secure platform,” Goner tweeted.
The event has been attributed by some to members of the BAYC discord server. Do not blame Discord for people being socially engineered, having their DMs open, or clicking phishing URLs. First, use the gadget appropriately before condemning it, quipped OKHotshot.
Unfortunately, this current phishing assault on the NFT community is only the latest in a long line of such attacks.
Due to the high value of NFTs, hackers have targeted Bored Ape Yacht Club members. As an example, a malicious actor took over BAYC’s official Instagram account on April 25 and disseminated phoney links that tempted followers to pay almost $2.7 million in NFTs
Before that, the Discord channel of Bored Ape Yacht Club was hacked, and the criminals made off with NFT’s from BAYC and other collections.
Digital art has had a rebirth thanks to non-fungible tokens. There are more and more opportunistic people finding methods to profit off NFT’s popularity. To prevent being a victim of one of these assaults, users must maintain vigilance at all times.
