Gaming industry giant Ubisoft is deepening its involvement in the blockchain sector through a partnership with platform provider Immutable.
The collaboration will yield Might & Magic: Fates, a new strategy card game utilizing the Ethereum network, slated for release later this year.
This title draws upon Ubisoft’s venerable Might & Magic franchise.
Game Details and Mobile Strategy
Designed as a free-to-play experience for both iOS and Android mobile platforms, Might & Magic: Fates will enable participants to acquire and exchange digital cards showcasing iconic heroes and creatures from the series’ rich history.
According to the joint announcement, the game incorporates faction-specific gameplay mechanics, allowing players to craft distinct strategies aligned with their individual approaches to play.
Ubisoft’s Continued Web3 Exploration
Ubisoft, the publisher behind major successes like Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, and Far Cry, is notably one of the most active legacy game companies exploring Web3 applications.
This project builds upon their recent launches of Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles and Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. in late 2024, reflecting a sustained commitment that follows earlier investments, collaborations, and experimental blockchain projects.
Nicolas Pouard, Vice President at Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab, expressed enthusiasm for building on the established Might & Magic legacy.
“As one of the most iconic franchises in strategy gaming, Might & Magic has a rich legacy that we’re thrilled to expand upon,” Pouard stated.
He added that the intention is to create a game offering substantial depth and reward for both long-standing enthusiasts and those new to the series, while remaining faithful to its defining characteristics.
Immutable’s Platform and Technical Foundation
The technological foundation for the game is provided by Immutable, an Ethereum-centric gaming platform operating across two scaling networks: Immutable X and Immutable zkEVM.
Immutable has outlined plans to consolidate these, merging the original Immutable X network into the more advanced zkEVM infrastructure.
Immutable is also known for developing the NFT-based card game Gods Unchained.
The groundwork for this Ubisoft-Immutable venture was first laid out publicly in November 2023.
Immutable Token (IMX) Market Performance
In parallel market news, Immutable’s associated cryptocurrency, IMX, has seen a considerable price increase, jumping 48% in the last week to trade near $0.60, based on CoinGecko figures.
This recent climb has returned IMX to the rankings of the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization after it had briefly fallen off the list earlier this month.
