U.S. SEC’s Crypto Enforcer David Hirsch Leaves

The supervisor of the crypto asset and cyber unit in the Division of Enforcement at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was Hirsch.

On Monday, David Hirsch, a senior member of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s crypto supervision branch, announced his departure from the organization via LinkedIn.

The supervisor of the crypto asset and cyber unit in the Division of Enforcement at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was Hirsch.

In the post, Hirsch stated, “This past Friday was my final day with the SEC after nearly nine years.” “I am especially pleased of the groundbreaking work that the Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit team that I had the honor of leading accomplished.”

Hirsch served as the SEC’s crypto enforcer, overseeing cryptocurrency exchanges and decentralized finance (DeFi) initiatives. He had previously acknowledged that the SEC’s current litigation burden is substantial and that it is impossible to pursue every case. However, he maintained that the agency was not yet at the end of its pursuit of individuals who he believed were violating securities laws in the same manner.

Hirsch further stated that “collaboration and combined efforts toward a common objective were the direct consequence of every accomplishment I was a part of.”

Hirsch declined to specify his subsequent professional destination, but he stated that he would “discuss that matter further in the near future.”
