Third-Largest Bitcoin Wallet Revealed; BlackRock and Gemini Possibly Responsible

Over three months, a new, unnamed “whale” has amassed more than $3 billion in Bitcoin.

According to statistics compiled by BitInfoCharts, a new Bitcoin whale has arisen over the previous three months, collecting 118,300 Bitcoin worth almost $3 billion at current market values. Although the true owner is unknown, speculation has focused on Gemini and BlackRock.

After the cold wallets managed by the exchanges Binance and Bitfinex, this mysterious wallet has quickly risen to become the third-largest holder of Bitcoin. The possibility that a centralized exchange, such as Gemini, is the owner has been raised by certain analysts in the sector.

Some Twitter users in the cryptocurrency space have speculated that the wallet is associated with the world’s biggest financial manager, BlackRock. The synchronicity between the wallet transactions and BlackRock’s application for a spot Bitcoin ETF product last month provides evidence for this idea.

According to CoinGecko, Bitcoin has lost 1.2% in the previous 24 hours and more than 11% in the last week.
