Grayscale Ether ETF Loses $356M Despite ETH Price Rise
Grayscale’s ETHE was the subject of the day’s outflows, with hundreds of millions of dollars involved.
On Friday, the Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHE) was losing value even though Ethereum recovered from an early loss and was trading back up at the $3,250 mark.
A significant outflow of $152.3 million from spot Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) resulted in the second-largest crypto by market capitalization falling toward $3,000 on July 25.
Grayscale’s ETHE surpassed the gains as investors withdrew hundreds of millions from the fund, despite the fact that four of the newly launched funds rebounded back significantly on July 26 with a combined inflow of $194.2 million.
Farside Investors’ preliminary data indicates that U.S.-listed spot Ether ETFs experienced a total net outflow of $162.7 million on Friday, making the day particularly volatile for ETHE. The fund experienced a $356.3 million loss, which is approximately ten million more than the $346.2 million discharge from the previous day.
Grayscale’s ETHE has experienced outflows exceeding $1.5 billion within the first four days of trading. This pattern underscores potential obstacles that may be hindering the fund. For example, ETHE imposes a 2.5% fee, which is higher than the average 0.25% fee in other funds. This could potentially render the fund less appealing than alternative options.
The Grayscale Mini Trust ETF (ETH) experienced the second-largest inflow of the day, totaling $44.9 million, in contrast to ETHE’s performance. BlackRock’s ETHA received the majority of Friday’s inflows, with $87.2 million, while Fidelity’s FETH attracted $39.3 million.
VanEck’s ETHW, Invesco’s QETH, and 21Shares’ CETH posted negative transactions, while Franklin Templeton’s EZET attracted $6.2 million from investors.
Ethereum’s price appears to have been unaffected by the performance of these funds, despite the fact that the aggregate flow turned negative. The crypto asset had experienced an intraday increase of 0.59% on the last review, trading at $3,276.
