Drake’s X is hacked and used to advertise the Solana memecoin

On Saturday night, Drake’s X account was purportedly hijacked and utilized to advertise a Solana memecoin that was based on the rapper’s animated “alter persona” to his more than 39 million followers.

Drake, the Canadian superstar, appeared to have been compromised on Saturday night and his X account was subsequently utilized to advertise a Solana memecoin that was based on his animated “alter persona.”

Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham, reposted and subsequently quoted a post by a since-deleted X account that was promoting a memecoin purportedly named Anita. The memecoin was named after Drake’s animated “alter ego” Anita Max Wynn, a cartoon character inspired by his passion of wagering.

The memecoin was also purportedly associated with Stake, Drake’s preferred crypto wagering platform, according to the fraudulent posts. The rapper’s Anita Max Wynn Tour, which will mark Drake’s first visit to Australia and New Zealand since 2017, is named after the fraudulent coin “$ANITA.”

DexScreener data indicates that the memecoin, which was advertised to Drake’s 39 million X followers, amassed $5 million in trading volume before traders evidently realized it was fraudulent and ceased purchasing it. Drake subsequently deleted the posts from his account.

Drake’s account was the most recent high-profile X account to experience a breach in recent weeks. The Cardano Foundation’s X account was exploited last Sunday and used to promote a memecoin fraud, which saw a mere tenth of the volume as “$ANITA.” Cardi B, Doja Cat, and Metallica are among the other celebrity musicians who have been the victims of cyberattacks.
