Decentraland (MANA) Launches the World’s Largest Virtual Fashion Show
Decentraland (MANA), a virtual gaming marketplace, is poised to organise the first-ever Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW) on its platform.
According to a new press release, Decentraland will host four days of virtual runway shows to showcase artificial intelligence fashion and wearable technology in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from some of the world’s most recognisable fashion brands, including Tommy Hilfiger, Selfridges, Cavalli, Eli Saab, Vogue Arabia, and Guo Pei.
According to MANA’s creative director Sam Hamilton, although fashion is not new to the metaverse, demand for fashionable digital clothing is soaring.
“The metaverse is not unfamiliar with fashion and haute couture. Since the advent of avatar wearables in 2020, Decentraland has been on the leading edge of rare and in-demand digital trends.
Since then, producers have pushed the technological and artistic boundaries of Decentraland wearables, resulting in a thriving market with over $1 million in avatar wearables sales last year.”
The immersive fashion show will take place in Decentraland’s newly created Luxury Fashion District and include a futuristic-looking catwalk. Additionally, it will have pop-up metaverse businesses and afterparties.
The area’s commercial sector will be centred around the virtual runway and will be inspired by the famed Avenue Montaigne in Paris, which is noted for its stylish clothes boutiques and design. According to the press announcement, the event will take place between March 24th and March 27th. At the time of writing, Decentraland is trading at $2.71, up 16% from its seven-day low of $2.27.
