Crypto Attorney Makes Bold Predictions Regarding 2023
John Deaton, a crypto lawyer and pro-XRP campaigner, has made many predictions for the year 2023. Unsurprisingly, the attorney’s forecasts concerned the legal sector, but one of them came true nearly immediately.
First, Deaton said that he believed the litigation between Ripple and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will result in a judge’s decision. This viewpoint has angered the XRP community, a significant portion of which hopes for a settlement or summary judgement to end the proceedings.
However, Deaton went on to add that a settlement is also feasible after a judge has reached a ruling immediately, so removing the potential of a further appeal or a jury trial.
The attorney’s other two forecasts directly involved the Securities and Exchange Commission. Deaton anticipates that the probe of Sam Bankman-Fried, the CEO of the famous FTX exchange, would reveal a lot of “dirty” facts about his contacts with senior SEC officials. Therefore, the attorney anticipates that the current SEC chairman, Gary Gensler, would depart before the end of 2023.
However, the second of Deaton’s four predictions was a self-fulfilling prophecy. Deaton could not have foreseen how fast crypto exchanges would be sued for selling unregistered securities when he predicted that such cases would be filed. This morning, the SEC brought charges against Genesis, a cryptocurrency exchange and broker, for exactly these crimes.
