Coinbase Announces System Outage and Verifies Ongoing Investigation
The Coinbase team is now looking into the issue and is actively attempting to resolve it. Members of the crypto exchange were reassured that the funds were secure.
There has been a broad system outage at Coinbase, the biggest crypto exchange in the United States. In the wee hours of Tuesday, Coinbase Support posted on X to let users know that the cryptocurrency exchange is looking into the matter and trying to find a solution. While they were working to fix the issue, the team also reassured customers that their money was secure.
The Coinbase website and app were also affected by the outage, which disrupted trading activity. A 503 error notice was still given when trying to visit the crypto exchange’s website as of the time of writing, indicating that the issue was still there.
Some Coinbase customers have taken to social networking site X to vent their irritation over the problem and the fact that they are unable to complete transactions. In reply to Coinbase’s statement, one user submitted a screenshot of an error message he saw when attempting to use the Coinbase app. The uploaded screenshot included the phrase – “Planned maintenance in process.”
At the time of publication, the cryptocurrency exchange has not provided any more information on the cause of the outage, beyond the original statement from the Coinbase Support team. The cryptocurrency exchange’s stance has not changed from its first announcement about the ongoing investigation.
A comparable outage occurred in March of this year at Coinbase. Heavy trading activity on the platform was ultimately determined to be the cause of the March event by the business.
