Apple hasn’t removed false Rabby Wallet app despite users’ allegations

Users found and notified the fraudulent program four days ago, yet it is still available on Apple’s program store.

There have been reports of a fraudulent version of the crypto wallet program Rabby Wallet causing havoc on users who were unaware of the dangers lurking in the Apple program Store.

Due to the ongoing evaluation of their legitimate app, the developers of DeBank’s Rabby Wallet verified on February 16 that any app appearing on the market is a fake.

Currently, the fake software is posted on the software store under the name “Rabby Wallet & Crypto Solution” by a firm named “Solution Development.” It has been there for a minimum of four days, according to the version history.

Despite many people informing Apple about the fake software, it seems the app is still available. On February 18, a Reddit user with the handle u/manolodf began a discussion in which he warned other users about the fake wallet software. Sharing screenshots from victims who had lost money to the fraudulent program, they started the identical topic on the Apple discussion board.

One victim reported being “deceived approximately $5,000 this morning via this fraudulent application.” I have reported the app to Apple on several occasions in the past, so I am hoping that they would compensate me in some way.”

As another user on X lamented, “I’ve recently lost 10% of my portfolio owing to a bogus Rabby_io program from the Apple Store,” the situation was quite dire.

The NFT collector known as “bthemouth” said that after entering their seed phrase, the fraudulent Rabby app emptied their wallets. Supposedly belonging to the hacker, the user supplied an address that had fourteen and a half Ether, which is worth almost forty thousand dollars today.

A fake Rabby wallet has already found its way into the App Store. According to notifications sent out by the Rabby team in October and December 2023, the app made its debut on the App Store during that period.

Similarly, on February 14th, news broke that the Apple program Store had found and published a bogus Curve Finance program.

A fake Ledger Live app gained access to Microsoft’s software store in November 2023 and stole about $600,000, according to Cointelegraph.
