Google is planning to lay off more workers in an effort to save funds
More layoffs and team reorganizations are on the horizon at Google, according to the company’s announcement.
In an effort to save expenses, industry behemoth Google has announced more layoffs. Reuters claims that the firm is reorganizing its workforce and laying off some employees. The company’s real estate and finance divisions would be hit hard by the massive layoffs. Workers in the revenues, cash operations, treasury, and business services divisions of the accounting department are losing their jobs.
Ruth Porath, Google’s chief financial officer, recently informed employees via email that the search engine giant is considering Bangalore, Dublin, and Mexico City as potential sites for new development centres. The reorganisation plans of the corporation are consistent with this new information. Employees impacted by the layoffs may be eligible for internal positions, according to a Google representative, who also clarified that the layoffs are not affecting all of Google’s worldwide staff. Google has been tight-lipped about the teams it is reorganising and the overall number of workers impacted.
A representative from the group said in the article that they will be relocating some of its members to these major international centres. With new offices opening in key cities throughout the globe, like India, Chicago, and Atlanta, among others, the corporation plans to boost its investments in certain regions. In order to improve efficiency and allocate resources to the most important goals, the study highlighted that teams throughout the organisation have changed from 2023 to the present.
This new information follows a few layoffs that occurred earlier this year at the company. As part of its efforts to increase the capability of its artificial intelligence (AI), Google announced the dismissal of several workers, including members of its engineering hardware and assistant teams. As Alphabet’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, pointed out, additional Google jobs are at risk. He said that the company was trying to build up its investment capacity, which meant it had to make some difficult decisions.
Earlier this month, Apple said that its self-driving vehicle and wearable screen teams will be laying off around 600 people. After the corporation eliminated both programmers, it became essential to lay off employees. As part of its larger measures to assist its parent firm, Amazon Web Services also laid off some employees. Last month, the business eliminated hundreds of jobs across many divisions.
