Vitalik Buterin Thanks $SHIB Community
Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum ($ETH), has used part of the Shiba Inu ($SHIB) tokens he received to sponsor a PhD fellowship program.
Buterin reportedly praised the Shiba Inu community for helping him accomplish his aim of establishing a PhD fellowship fund to assist research in the “safe development and deployment” of artificial intelligence.
The project’s unknown creators handed Buterin 50 percent of Shiba Inu’s entire token supply to withdraw the currencies from circulation. Buterin replied by deleting 90 percent of these coins, which had a peak value of about $32.5 billion.
Buterin said at the time that he did not want to be a “power centre” by having that much $SHIB. However, the co-founder of Ethereum has utilised a portion of the remaining tokens to support a new PhD fellowship focusing on AI Existential Safety. Buterin announced the inaugural recipients of his company in a tweet, stating that they would try to guarantee that artificial intelligence is “the greatest rather than the worst thing to happen to mankind.”
In the following tweet, Buterin also expressed his gratitude to the Shiba Inu community for making his fellowship possible by donating donations.
Buterin also contributed the bulk of the 50 trillion $SHIB to the India COVID Crypto Relief Fund. At the time, the value of the money was close to $1.2 billion.
