The Ethereum co-founder stated at an impending conference in November that “we are not solely going to discuss the crypto topics.”
Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, emphasized the blockchain network’s resilient fundamentals on Thursday, describing them as “extremely strong” before focusing on artificial intelligence.
Buterin stated that Ethereum’s fundamentals are currently exceedingly robust, citing recent advancements such as the implementation of a rollup-centric roadmap, which he believes has substantially resolved the blockchain’s scalability issues.
In addition, he disclosed plans for a defensive accelerationism-themed day that will concentrate on AI at the forthcoming Devcon conference in Bangkok during a comprehensive Spaces discussion on X.
Last year, Vitalk introduced the term “defensive acceleration” (d/acc) to represent a more cautious approach to AI development. It was contrasted with the “effective accelerationist” perspective, which emphasizes the expedited advancement of technology in order to accelerate the realization of its advantages.
Buterin provided a detailed description of the plans for a “d/acc discovery day” at Devcon in November during the conversation.
“The overarching objective is to create a world that is surprisingly secure and more open and cooperative,” Buterin elaborated.
He established a number of critical focal areas for the forthcoming program, such as biodefense, cyber defense, physical resilience, and “info defense” against misinformation.
Buterin also underscored the significance of developing these technologies in a decentralized manner, rather than relying on centralized authorities.
He stated that the d/acc discovery day will include speakers from a variety of disciplines, such as biotech, AI, and cryptography.
Buterin expressed the expectation that the event would assist individuals from diverse backgrounds in recognizing that “we are truly part of the same team as we strive to create a more open and secure world.”
The conversation also addressed the obstacles that the crypto industry is currently encountering, with certain participants criticizing the current state of governance models and user experience.
Nevertheless, Buterin and other participants underscored that Devcon would provide an opportunity to confront these challenges and advance the ecosystem.
Buterin emphasized the importance of active human involvement in determining the course of technological advancement as Devcon approaches, stating, “We require active human intention to select the desired paths.”
