Uniswap v4 launches in Q3 after Ethereum’s Dencun update

Following the imminent Ethereum Dencun upgrade, the Uniswap Foundation has provided an estimated date for the release of version 4 of the decentralized exchange.

The Uniswap Foundation, which provides support for the Uniswap decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol, has declared a specific date for the release of Uniswap v4, which will occur subsequent to the forthcoming Dencun upgrade on Ethereum.

The foundation published a road map detailing their strategy for the new distribution in a post on X. The organization emphasized that they are completing essential code, conducting testing, optimizing gas consumption, enhancing security, and finalizing the boundary during the “Code Freeze” phase.

Subsequently, the Uniswap Foundation team will conduct code reviews for v4 using audit firms and a community audit competition. According to the group, Uniswap v4 ought to be the “most carefully audited code ever implemented on Ethereum.” The team will deploy the decentralized exchange (DEX) to the testnet jointly with the completion of last-minute adjustments.

The Uniswap Foundation reports that Uniswap v4 will be pushed into the Ethereum mainnet during the third quarter of 2024 as part of the third phase. The organization emphasized that this date was provisional, meaning that it was susceptible to change based on the forthcoming Dencun upgrade’s status on Ethereum.

On January 17, as previously reported by Cointelegraph, the Dencun upgrade was activated on the Goerli testnet of the Ethereum network. EIP-4844, which enables proto-danksharding in an effort to reduce layer 2 transaction fees, is one of the Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) implemented with the upgrade.

A four-hour delay occurred during the Goerli deployment for the Dencun expansion. On January 31, the deployment of the upgrade took place without complication on the Sepolia testnet, which was the second among three Ethereum testnets. The Dencun upgrade completed the third segment of testing on February 7, following its deployment to the Holesky testnet subsequent to the second testnet.

Tim Beiko, an Ethereum developer, declared on February 8 that the alteration would occur at “slot 8626176” on the mainnet. According to blockchain research group Nethermind, this will take place at 13:55:35 UTC on March 13, 2024. In a call on February 8, subsequent to the effective deployment to the Holesky testnet, Ethereum developers determined the date.
