Twitter’s CEO Trolls Ethereum Holders
Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter, has heated up the Ethereum community once again.
Given Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey‘s affinity for Bitcoin and the fact that Bitcoin has its own Twitter emblem, many speculated whether Dorsey was indirectly mocking Ethereum (ETH). After all, he is a fervent Bitcoin (BTC) maximalist who had frequently declared that Bitcoin will become the internet’s native currency in past.
The tech mogul shared a screenshot of a new Twitter feature that contains a message accusing Ethereum of being a hoax. While some speculated that the Ethereum-bashing tweet came on Dorsey’s stream by chance, the 44-year-old entrepreneur stressed that no such thing occurred. The Bitcoin community was clearly ecstatic following Dorsey’s jab at the competitor cryptocurrency.
This is not the first time the Twitter CEO has demonstrated an aptitude for teasing Ethereum holders. As reported by U.Today, Dorsey recently used the hashtag #Eth to rally support for Ethiopia, which won a gold medal in the men’s 10,000 meters event. Previously, Dorsey, a fervent Bitcoin supporter, would dismiss the concept of investing in Ethereum (or any other altcoin).
The tweet that ignited yet another spat between Dorsey and Ethereans refers to a recent remark made by Justin Drake, an Ethereum Foundation researcher, on the famous blockchain podcast Unchained. Drake made a light-hearted remark about Ethereum being the “accomplishment of Satoshi’s vision”:
Ethereum is the realization of Satoshi’s goal… In that respect, Ethereum is identical to Bitcoin. This, of course, infuriated many Bitcoiners, who accused Ethereum of being a centralized pre-mined cryptocurrency that is only suitable for selling useless JPEG pebbles.
