The UpOnly criminal has claimed that they have generated six figures by exploiting Cobie’s likeness
Yesterday, hackers seized control of the X account of the crypto podcast UpOnly and published a fraudulent token that featured the brand’s image.
Brian Krogsgard, also known as Ledger, the presenter of UpOnly, stated that he became aware that the account was not under his control upon returning home at 2:00 a.m. GMT. Regrettably, the cause of the getting remained a mystery to Ledger. He stated that the incident was not a SIM exchange.
Krogsgrad reassured his disciples, “There is no token. My only session was removed from being logged in after my UpOnly Twitter account was compromised (the method of hacking is still unknown).”
In order to caution users against clicking on any content emanating from the UpOnly podcast account, Jordan Fish, also known as Cobie, momentarily unlocked his private X account.
It appears that the intruder altered the handle from @uponlyTV to @RanByLyoni and attempted to promote a fraudulent token as if it were an official UpOnly token.
Presently, these token posts have been eliminate. The hackers have only left a small number of posts, in which they boast about earning a six-figure sum from Cobie’s visage. He has also left a request for Cobie to contact the hackers and “broker a bargain.”
Following the deletion of the fraudulent token postings, the individual responsible maintained certain posts.
The original @uponlyTV handle was available for the taking as a result of the new handle. The individual known as “Rusty” promptly seized it, as web3 security expert Plum observed. Subsequently, this account has achieved suspension.
Two X users, Meth and Lyoni, have claimed to be the hackers, but they deny any involvement. Plum said, “I don’t know who it is yet, but both of them have told me it’s not them. Plum also confirmed that they are aware of Rusty’s identity and that the “name is secure.”
UpOnly’s most recent livestream on YouTube occurred more than two years ago. UpOnly has not been notably active since that time. The duo has hinted at a potential 2024 European tour with a live audience; yet it is improbable that it will transpire as the year concludes.
