The Sacramento Kings of the NBA Collaborate with Ankr
The Sacramento Kings, a professional NBA club, and Ankr, a blockchain startup that provides cloud computing services, announced a multi-year partnership. The two organizations will collaborate to provide instructional material about the bitcoin sector and blockchain technology during the partnership.
The announcement was announced on the National Basketball Association’s website. Apart from teaching sports fans about the value of digital assets via events and different initiatives, the Sacramento Kings and Ankr will also hold an annual event at Golden 1 Center (the home of the sports club). There, it will welcome students and developers to learn about cryptocurrency advancements.
“Sports may be an effective vehicle for educating and embracing innovation. We’re excited to work with Ankr to better align our efforts around forward-thinking projects and educate people about the crypto economy.”
Chandler Song, for his part, lauded the NBA team’s willingness to embrace new technology, expressing optimism that the effort would “open a lot of new avenues for both sports fans and the cryptocurrency community:”
“We have visited the Kings data center many times to do crypto mining inside their facilities, and I appreciate the owner, Vivek’s, willingness to embrace new technology. We are united in our goal to advance the use of Web 3 technology.”
Ankr is a software platform and supplier of decentralized infrastructure. It was founded in 2017 to promote Web3 – the third generation of internet services for websites and apps. Additionally, the Ankr protocol supports over 50 proof-of-work chains.
CrypCryptocurrency Salaries for The Players
For years, the Sacramento Kings — one of the NBA’s championship teams – has taken a pro-crypto position. It enabled fans to buy tickets and merchandise goods with bitcoin in 2014.
Chairman Ranadivé announced another move toward increased use of digital assets in April of this year. He said that all workers inside the company had the option of receiving their pay in bitcoin rather than dollars:
“I’m going to offer to pay everyone in the Kings organization as much of their income in bitcoin as they desire, including the players.”
Another NBA club that takes digital asset payments is the Dallas Mavericks. Apart from Bitcoin, Mark Cuban’s club also accepts Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and others.
