Tesla now accepts Dogecoin for merchandise purchases

Tesla now accepts payments in Dogecoin for business merchandize. However, the corporation claims that DOGE purchases would not be refunded.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, said that the firm is now accepting Dogecoin (DOGE) as payment for its merchandize. The Tesla store’s DOGE-eligible items may be bought by sending DOGE to Tesla’s Dogecoin wallet.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, said that the firm is now accepting Dogecoin (DOGE) as payment for its merchandize. The Tesla store’s DOGE-eligible items may be bought by sending DOGE to Tesla’s Dogecoin wallet.

While the company is accepting DOGE, it also stated that it is not accepting any other cryptocurrency. The corporation asserts on its website that it is unable to identify any other assets than DOGE. According to the company’s website, “non-Dogecoin digital assets transferred to Tesla will not be returned to the purchaser.”

Additionally, DOGE-purchased things “are not returnable, exchangeable, or cancellable.” Tesla considers all purchases made through DOGE to be final and non-refundable.

Billy Markus, the founder of Dogecoin, immediately responded to the statement, uniting the Dogecoin community. “All fine, Dogecoin community,” Markus tweeted.

The community is receptive. Several users reported that they have already made purchases using DOGE. Within minutes after the announcement, Twitter user Dogecoin GER shared a screenshot of his purchase online, with the caption “Tesla Tequila on its way to Germany!”

Tesla revealed a month ago that they would begin taking DOGE for merchandise. At the moment of the announcement, the meme coin’s price increased by 25%. Today, just a few hours after DOGE payments were implemented, the asset’s price is up 18.63 percent.

In December, the billionaire discussed DOGE, comparing it to Bitcoin. According to Musk, “despite its origins as a lighthearted joke,” Dogecoin is better suited for transactions. He added that DOGE is somewhat inflationary, which encourages individuals to use it as a medium of exchange rather than as a store of wealth.

Meanwhile, Tesla is unlikely to be the first corporation to begin accepting cryptocurrency payments this year. According to a Visa poll, small and mid-sized businesses are also expected to use cryptocurrency payments in 2022.
