Quiznos Sandwich Shops to Soon Accept Bitcoin
Quiznos, a global chain of sandwich restaurants, is on the verge of accepting bitcoin payments at select locations in Denver.
Customers of Quiznos restaurants in the Denver metropolitan area will soon be able to pay with cryptocurrency. Quiznos announced that it will begin accepting digital asset payments in August in collaboration with payments provider Bakkt.
The pay-with-bitcoin pilot program will launch in Denver, Colorado, and will reward participants for experimenting with the payment system. Any customer who makes a purchase at Quiznos using the Bakkt app will receive a $15 bitcoin thank you. Additionally, the platform enables the purchase of gift cards, and the Bakkt app includes an integrated loyalty rewards program.
,“Partnering with an innovative platform such as Bakkt is appealing to us for a number of reasons, primarily because it allows us to accept bitcoin directly at the point of sale as part of a quick and seamless transaction.”
Mark Lohmann, President of REGO Restaurant Group
Lohmann continued, As demand for alternative and digital currency grows, the brand will continue to develop accessible methods for customers to use it to purchase food. Sheela Zemlin, Chief Revenue Officer at Bakkt, added that the pilot program will be closely monitored and, if successful, will be expanded beyond Denver to other cities across the United States. Zemlin believes that the partnership will provide Quiznos customers with unique experiences by allowing them to interact with both the physical product and digital assets concurrently.
Numerous businesses are now accepting cryptocurrency payments. While Quiznos is the first international sandwich chain to accept cryptocurrency payments, many others in the retail, entertainment, and food industries have already done so.
