NPC Labs Secures $18 Million in Funding to Expand Gaming on Base Network
Makers Fund and Hashed are among the participants in the round, which brings the total raise to $21 million.
NPC Labs intends to utilize the proceeds to serve as a primary contributor to B3.fun, an ecosystem that aims to develop Web3 games on Base.
Pantera Capital has led a $18 million funding round for NPC Labs, a developer that is pursuing the development of a GameFi ecosystem on the Base protocol.
In an interview with CoinDesk, Daryl Xu, the co-founder of NPC Labs, stated that the company’s objective is to expand the gaming experience on Base by serving as a core contributor to B3.fun, a Base gaming ecosystem, and developing GameFi products that are accessible to non-crypto native users.
“At present, the majority of individuals in the cryptocurrency industry are developing exceptional applications; however, they are primarily focusing on individuals who are crypto-native.” A multitude of crypto buzzwords, including wallets and LPs, are in use, according to Xu. “The technical complexities are not inherently important to the average person, the ‘Normie’ we aspire to attract as the next million or billion users. They merely desire an enjoyable and easily accessible experience.”
Xu stated that NPC Labs intends to utilize the funds to initiate the ecosystem, which includes the development of additional methods for non-Web3 users to discover crypto gaming. A portion of this entails the development of discovery portals, such as Basement.fun, to assist users in accessing these games.
The purpose of [Basement.fun] is to serve as a portal for game discovery. He compared it to the old HTML5 and Flash game websites, such as Miniclip or Addicting Games.
