Nayib Bukele predicts a meeting of 44 nations to discuss bitcoin in El Salvador

It was announced on Twitter late Sunday night that a meeting of 44 nations will take place in El Salvador the next day to address bitcoin and other topics.

Central banks and financial authorities from 44 nations will gather in El Salvador tomorrow to discuss financial inclusion, the digital economy, banking the unbanked, and the advantages of Bitcoin’s rollout in our country,” writes Bukele.

Nigeria, Egypt; Pakistan; Bangladesh; Kenya; Uganda; Rwanda; Paraguay; Angola and Madagascar are the majority of the developing nations represented by these central banks and agencies. Is the purpose of this meeting to address bitcoin specifically, or is there more to the agenda?

Twitter account “Bitcoin Beach” has confirmed that various nations are travelling to El Salvador for the summit, and Bukele’s tweets follow suit. “The modest community that helped Orange Pill become the world’s first Bitcoin country” is the Twitter bio for Bitcoin Beach.

Last September, El Salvador became the first country to recognise bitcoin as a legal currency. It also has more than 2,000 bitcoins (worth more than $60 million at current rates) on its financial sheet.
