Musk Introduces Tesla’s Optimus Robot and Cybercab

The Optimus robot from Tesla can bring drinks, walk dogs, and help with housework.

Elon Musk surprised everyone at the recent We, Robot event when he showed off Optimus, Tesla’s humanoid robot. Musk claimed that this automaton was capable of performing a variety of tasks, including walking dogs and dispensing beverages. Musk envisioned a future in which these machines would assist with household tasks, supervise children, and even maintain lawns.

The anticipated price of Optimus is $20,000 to $30,000, making it an affordable option for both residential and commercial properties.

Musk also unveiled the Tesla Cybercab, a self-driving vehicle that is devoid of a steering wheel and pedals. He assured that the Cybercab would be more affordable than public transport, thereby making it possible for a wide range of individuals to access it. Production will commence in 2026, with prices anticipated to be below $30,000.

A Tesla Cybertruck proprietor who goes by the name “Doge Tipping” on X (formerly Twitter) requested permission from Musk to bring his Dogecoin-themed truck, the “CyberDoge,” to the event, thereby adding a playful element to the proceedings. Musk’s casual association with meme culture contributed a humorous element to the presentation.

Musk’s influence extends beyond the realm of technology. He recently expressed his endorsement of Polymarket, a crypto-based prediction platform, asserting that it is superior to conventional polls in its ability to predict the U.S. presidential election. This occurred amid an increase in the prevalence of meme coins with political themes, which saw an 8% increase in their market value to exceed $702 million.
