Meta wants to use generative AI technology in metaverse games
Meta is endeavoring to transform metaverse gaming by integrating generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Meta’s most recent job posting indicates that the organization intends to investigate and develop “completely new forms of gameplay” in the metaverse by integrating generative AI with virtual, augmented, and mixed-reality games.
The company aspires to develop games that are non-deterministic, personalized, and capable of evolving with each playthrough, thereby generating experiences that are presently unimaginable.
Meta’s Reality Labs division, which concentrates on metaverse development, will be the initial destination for the successful candidate for the position. Additionally, they will engage in collaboration with the company’s leadership.
The position provides an annual salary of approximately $347,000, as well as compensation, equity, and benefits.
Although Horizon, Meta’s integrated game creation system within the metaverse, will be the primary focus, the position has the potential to expand to encompass other platforms beyond Meta, such as mobile and PC.
One of the primary duties of the position will be the development of tools that can improve the creation of content on Meta’s platforms.
Meta acknowledges the rapid advancement of the generative AI landscape, particularly in the context of content creation, and is committed to being a leader in the industry by making substantial investments in this field.
At a time when the company has allocated billions of dollars to its metaverse division, Meta is pursuing generative AI technology in metaverse gaming.
Conversely, the division disclosed a $3.8 billion loss during the initial quarter of the current year. Businesses are progressively utilizing metaverse technologies for virtual meetings, training sessions, and consumer engagement. This is a noteworthy development.
In the wake of the pandemic, there has been an increase in the use of virtual reality by companies for remote work and collaboration.
Furthermore, the integration of blockchain and metaverse technologies is emerging as a substantial trend.
Blockchain is the foundation for the metaverse’s digital ownership and secure transactions, which enhances the user experience and generates new economic opportunities.
Meta, Microsoft, Tencent, and Nvidia are among the companies that are making substantial investments in the metaverse to improve their platforms and develop novel user experiences.
In the interim, Meta has encountered obstacles in its AI initiatives in Brazil. Recently, the national data protection authority of Brazil issued a ruling that prohibits Meta from utilizing the personal data of Brazilian users to train its AI models.
The National Data Protection Authority has directed the immediate suspension of Meta’s new privacy policy, which entailed the utilization of images, audio, videos, and posts for AI training purposes.
Noncompliance with the directive could result in a daily sanction of 50,000 Brazilian real (approximately $8,800).
Meta responded to the verdict by stating that it would postpone the introduction of AI advantages to the Brazilian population.
According to the regulator, Brazil is a substantial market for Meta’s social media platform, Facebook, which has 102 million active users.
