Ledger has introduced a new hardware wallet called the Ledger Flex
Ledger announced a new hardware wallet, the Ledger Flex, which includes a touchscreen feature.
Ledger has introduced the Ledger Flex, a new mid-range hardware wallet that is priced at $249. Ledger’s proprietary operating system and NFC connectivity are the driving forces behind the new device’s secure E Ink interface feature, according to the French startup. The company further stated that the new features will improve usability and increase security without compromising wallets.
Ledger Flex is a novel hardware wallet that features an E-Link display that enables consumers to confirm transactions and navigate the interface with a single touch. During the 2024 Bitcoin conference in Nashville, the crypto firm unveiled the product. According to reports, the new wallet is compatible with both mobile and desktop devices and supports two-factor authentication (2FA).
Pascal Gauthier, the Chairman and CEO of Ledger, declared that the company’s introduction of Ledger Stax and Ledger Flex in 2024 will revolutionize the self-custody experience of consumers. He further stated that Ledger devices contain over 20% of the global digital assets, and the new interface feature would enhance the accessibility of enterprises and consumers.
“It is the first secure touchscreen; the use of a secure element processor to power a touchscreen user interface is essential for crypto security.”
Additionally, the crypto firm introduced a Ledger Security Key earlier this year. According to Ledger, the new security key is a new application that is accessible on Ledger Flex and Ledger Stax. It enables consumers to safeguard their accounts by utilizing two-factor authentication (2FA) and passkey capabilities.
Ledger stated that the application is designed to safeguard the data of customers, particularly in a future that is characterized by AI challenges, such as deep fakes. The company responded to these concerns by announcing that the new touchscreen feature will offer proof of identity and proof of humanity capabilities.
Ian Rogers, the Chief Experience Officer of Ledger, underscored the importance of a secure interface in order to guarantee user security. He commended the contact feature on both the Ledger Flex and Stax, stating that they are touchscreen devices that are completely secure. The displays are battle-tested by Donjon and third parties, as he disclosed.
Earlier this year, Ledger introduced Ledger Stax, which features a curved E-Ink display that was developed by Tony Fadell, the same individual who was responsible for the iPod. According to reports, the industrial challenges associated with the curved display resulted in delays.
Paul Gauthier stated that the curved display on Ledger Stax posed unprecedented mass production challenges. He emphasized that the supply chain assault on the company’s connectKit in December was an isolated incident from the two releases and pledged to provide compensation to the victims of the phishing attack.
