Fantasy Top, an Ethereum NFT game, is extending from the layer-2 network Blast following its successful introduction last year. The creators revealed on Wednesday that a free-to-play version of the game will be available on the newly created Monad testnet, a layer-1 blockchain.
The game, which is similar to traditional fantasy sports, replaces football and basketball players with the top crypto social media celebrities on X (previously known as Twitter), whom it refers to as “heroes.” For example, “heroes” gain points for their social engagement measures, much as athletes do for their on-field performance, such as scoring a touchdown.
Crypto celebrities like Ansem, ThreadGuy, Truth Terminal, and many others have hero cards that players may employ in their lineups for each tournament.
This partnership marks the first step towards 100k DAU, making Fantasy more accessible than ever.
“This immersive Monad experience features never-before-seen heroes and allows players the opportunity to earn whitelist slots for the most anticipated NFT collections releasing on the Monad mainnet,” the game stated on X.

Registration for contests is now open, with the inaugural Monad testnet competition beginning tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET.
Travis Bickle, the pseudonymous designer of Fantasy Top, expressed that partnering with Monad presents an amazing opportunity to expand the capabilities of on-chain experiences at scale.
Fantasy Top’s social fantasy game began on the Ethereum layer-2 network Blast. In May, the game quickly gained momentum, boasting a weekly trade volume exceeding $21 million and attracting 31,000 users immediately upon its launch.
However, due to a decline in Blast users and decreasing interest following the first explosion, the game has only surpassed 1,500 weekly players once since November 19, 2024. Dragonfly spearheaded the game’s $4.25 million fundraising effort in December to continue its mission of financializing social media.
Monad has funded $244 million in an attempt to compete with Solana and Ethereum by enabling extremely quick and inexpensive transactions. On Wednesday, the network launched its testnet, which provided testnet tokens to over 8.8 million EVM wallets based on their previous activity on other chains.
