Elon Musk confirms McDonald’s (MCD) offer to accept Dogecoin (DOGE) remains “completely” open
Tesla CEO and Dogecoin advocate Elon Musk said that he would be willing to eat a Happy Meal on live TV if only McDonald’s would take Dogecoin as payment.
The UX/UI and graphic designer at Dogecoin, “DogeDesigner,” asked Musk whether his earlier offer to McDonald’s to accept Dogecoin was still valid, to which the multibillionaire responded with a “100” emoji.
Later, DogeDesigner tweeted on his official account, “Hey McDonald’s, this offer from Mr. Tweet Elonmusk is still open.”
A number of Twitter users have responded to the article, with some expressing hope that the fast-food business will rethink adopting Dogecoin.
According to U.Today, Musk indicated in January 2022 that he would be prepared to have a happy meal on television if McDonald’s accepted Dogecoin. The restaurant business provides a happy meal for children, which includes an entree, a side dish, and a beverage.
McDonald’s pressured Tesla to accept a made-up cryptocurrency dubbed “Grimacecoin” in response to Musk’s remark. Recent Twitter chats may indicate that Musk’s attempt to urge McDonald’s to accept Dogecoin is not done despite the widespread belief of the opposite after the dumb joke.
After Elon Musk revealed Twitter’s acquisition in October of last year, Dogecoin increased by more than 150%, propelling it back into the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market valuation.
Dogecoin maintains its position as the ninth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, despite a decrease in its price. At the time of writing, Dogecoin was trading at $0.0856, a little decrease from the previous day.
