Disney is employing a transaction attorney for its ‘aggressive’ NFT and DeFi initiatives

According to a job ad on LinkedIn, The Walt Disney Company is seeking a transaction lawyer to investigate new technology prospects, including NFTs, in an “accelerated and aggressive timeframe.”

“Partner with business teams as they design new worldwide emerging technology initiatives,” said the job advertisement “across supplementary areas, such as the metaverse and decentralized finance.

Help with “due diligence” for “NFT,” “blockchain,” “third party marketplace,” and “cloud provider” initiatives, as well as “negotiate and prepare complicated agreements” for such endeavours, reads the job advertisement.

Typically, transaction attorneys evaluate merger and acquisition transactions and other complex commercial transactions.

The message was made Saturday morning on LinkedIn. According to Deadline, Disney CEO Bob Chapek said at the D23 Expo fan conference on September 10 that the corporation is studying and creating ideas for the metaverse. The Mickey Mouse corporation appointed a former Apple executive as vice president of “Next Generation Storytelling Creative Experiences”.

“We refer to it as next-generation storytelling,” Chapek told Deadline backstage at the September 10 exhibition in Anaheim.  Last year, the “Partners” NFT for Walt & Mickey was removed from the VeVe app for iOS and Android.

The new attorney will work in the legal department of Walt Disney Company’s corporate transaction unit. He or she must have at least five years of experience managing and running complex corporate transactions, preferably at a large multinational law firm with an international reputation for corporate law.
