California law permits scammers to include six executives from Tether in their startup

According to corporate filings, a Chinese pig-butchering fraudster and a US-based swindler of the elderly combined forces to falsely claim that they were working directly with Tether and its executives, owing to peculiar corporate rules and regulations in California and Colorado.

Mohammad Alam, a convicted criminal, and Sun Yunfeng, a Chinese national who is currently being sued by Google, were able to incorporate the identities of all Tether executives into one company and designate another “USDT Bank LLC.”

Sun Yunfeng, who is currently under investigation by Google for civil RICO charges, has successfully evaded the authority of one of the world’s most powerful corporations by concealing himself in China.

The alleged serial fraudster, who is the chairperson of the Cryptocurrency Association, a California-based company, is accused of creating dozens of Google Store applications to steal money from unsuspecting users in order to finance ongoing pig-butchering schemes in Myanmar, Cambodia, and other regions of Southeast Asia.

The corporate form of the firm incorporates Sun’s pseudonym, Alphonse Sun, as the “independent director of the board.”

Six Tether administrators, including general counsel Stuart Hoegner and CFO Giancarlo Devasini, have listed their addresses as the office address for the Cryptocurrency Association in the company filing.

Tether declared, “We are deeply troubled and are conducting an inquiry. We can verify that Tether is not associated with this purported scheme at this time.”

Sun’s LinkedIn profile playfully indicates that he was a social worker for the Salvation Army in his previous employment. Additionally, he awarded his company the “2018 Brand Influence Immigration Agency Award” on Chinese social media.
