Bukele says that El Salvador will start purchasing 1 Bitcoin every day
It seems that the first country to recognize Bitcoin as legal money has not altered its mind.
The president of El Salvador turned to Twitter to declare that the nation would restart its BTC purchasing spree the next day. Tron’s Justin Sun swiftly responded, stating that his blockchain project would follow suit.
El Salvador is committed to continuing its pro-bitcoin approach, despite the fact that 2022 has been a difficult year for the cryptocurrency industry, with several internal and external forces driving prices and mood down.
According to Najeeb Bukele, the nation, which just marked one year since adopting BTC as official cash, will begin acquiring one bitcoin each day beginning tomorrow.
The little Central American nation has collected 2,381 BTC so far. Considering what has transpired with the asset’s valuation over the previous year or so, El Salvador’s investment has suffered significant losses, at least on paper.
The nation was briefly implicated in the ongoing FTX crisis, with claims circulating that it had BTC on the defunct cryptocurrency exchange.
However, Bukele rejected the rumours immediately afterwards in a chat with Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of Binance.
Tron’s Justin Sun “echoed” Bukele’s commitment from today by stating, “We will also acquire one bitcoin every day beginning tomorrow.”
