Bored Ape NFT purchased for $90,000 by New Yuga Labs CEO Daniel Alegre

The CEO of Yuga Labs has bought NFT 3575 from the Bored Ape Yacht Club. Alegre paid $90,000 (50 ETH) for Bored Ape number one on the Blur NFT exchange.

Yuga Labs, the company responsible for developing Bored Ape Yacht Club (BYAC), has its own NFT collection, and CEO Daniel Alegre has purchased one item from it. Market cap-wise, BAYC is close to $800 million, making it the most valuable blockchain collectible.

Alegre bought Bored Ape 3575, a one-of-a-kind sculpture depicting a chimpanzee with sunglasses and a Sea Captain’s cap, for 50 ether (ETH), or about $90,000. On April 1, he started his term as CEO.

According to CoinGecko, the lowest price at which a Bored Ape NFT can be purchased is presently 43 ETH ($77,500). Each token’s artwork has a particular set of characteristics, and token holders are granted exclusive commercial and artistic use of their token’s primate pictures.

Using Blur’s NFT trading platform, Alegre made the acquisition the day before. On-chain evidence from Etherscan reveals that he had previously sent ether from his Coinbase account to his Ethereum address.

Later, he used Twitter to brag about his new NFT purchase, tweeting, “To my kids: meet a new member of the family. Amused to be in BAYC #3575 as an Ape.”

Alegre, formerly president of video game company Activision Blizzard, was named CEO of Yuga Labs in December.

Earlier this year, with a value of $4 billion, Yuga Labs secured a $450 million fundraising round led by Andreessen Horowitz.
