Banco Azteca to Add Bitcoin Support
Ricardo Salinas Pliego, a Mexican millionaire, has announced that his bank would add Bitcoin support.
In a tweet on Thursday, Mexican businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego announced that his Banco Azteca would soon accept Bitcoin. The founder and chairman of Grupo Salinas, who is believed to have a net worth of $15.6 billion, has also added Bitcoin laser eyes to his Twitter profile image to demonstrate his support for the world’s biggest cryptocurrency.
Ricardo Salinas Pliego, a Mexican billionaire, has expressed his support for Bitcoin in past and had said that his bank, Banco Azteca, is in the process of becoming Mexico’s first to accept the cryptocurrency. Salinas, who heads one of the largest conglomerates in the Latin American country, responded to another Bitcoin bull, Michael Saylor, by recommending the use of the cryptocurrency, which has lost the majority of its gains this year due to China’s escalating crackdown on its trade and mining, as well as Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s anti-cryptocurrency tweets.
Salinas started in late June that Banco Azteca will be the first Mexican bank to offer support for the bellwether currency. In November, Mexico’s third-richest billionaire said that he had converted 10% of his enormous portfolio to Bitcoin. He believes that investing in the biggest cryptocurrency is a smart approach to diversify one’s financial portfolio:
Bitcoin is an excellent vehicle for diversifying your investment portfolio, and I believe that all investors should begin researching cryptocurrencies and their potential. We are striving to offer these to our customers at Banco Azteca in order to continue encouraging [financial] independence. Salinas, on the other hand, is not a Dogecoin supporter. He gained a measure of notoriety after assuring a fan of the meme coin that he would remain impoverished.
