NFT Supported New Telegram Gifts Feature Debuts

The new Telegram Gifts feature enables users to transmit personalized gifts that recipients can either exchange for Telegram Stars or display.

Telegram has recently implemented its most recent “Gifts” feature, which enables users to purchase gifts for their peers. These gifts can be displayed on the recipient’s profile or sold for virtual currency, known as “Telegram Stars.”

The purpose of these Stars is to provide funding to creators or to cover the cost of other services in micro applications. Each contact profile includes the gifting option, which allows for the customization of emojis and messaging.

More intriguingly, the Telegram Gifts feature will be available in limited quantities, and a portion of these limited-edition gifts are intended to be converted into NFTs via Telegram’s blockchain, which is based on TON. The blockchain will register ownership of these NFTs, which will enable users to auction and trade gifts outside of the app.

In addition to the Telegram Gifts feature, the messaging platform has also recently updated its verification service for businesses. With the Fragment platform, companies can transmit verification codes to their consumers for a mere $0.01 per code.

The method claims that it is more secure and rapidly implemented than conventional SMS-based verification methods. The Gateway API of the platform is readily testable, allowing developers to experiment with the system prior to its actual implementation.

During this time, there has been a reevaluation of the privacy and security policies of Telegram. Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of the platform, recently addressed some of the concerns regarding its level of cooperation with law enforcement. He stated that the platform began sharing information about crime with authorities in 2018.

Nevertheless, Durov maintains that Telegram’s privacy policies safeguard its users and do not endorse any form of criminal activity. This statement was issued months prior to the alleged ongoing legal dispute between Durov and the French government. Durov is currently facing six counts of alleged illicit activities on Telegram, and his maximum sentence has been set at $5.5 million.
